Need tips or help on making it work… A well maintained van with working AC and minimal/no rust of most any age is going to be a good starting point. Some people have financial/housing assistance from family, some people are just in a better spot financially to where they can afford fixing up a van and rent a spot. We’ve lived in station wagons before though, which although we enjoyed had a lot of annoying perks to it, so traveling in a van feels like luxury compared to that, a van is so much more comfortable than a car. Buy a van, do the van life for a year, then get back to our normal life afterwards. I don't have a lot of runway to do a build out. If you feel you can handle it then I suggest a Dodge Grand Caravan or Chrysler Town and Country . It doesn't matter if it has been covered before, this is the place to ask those newbie questions or for vets things you just can't figure out or need help with. My biggest needs would be power and Internet connectivity both for the dog to stay cool and me to be able to work. I liked commercial areas with established street parking but low traffic.
